Nassir Mokarram joined Emory Investment Management in 2025. A Kauffman Fellow, scientist, entrepreneur, and investor, Dr. Mokarram brings a multidisciplinary perspective shaped by experience across academia, company building, and venture investing.
As a founder, he advanced an innovative brain tumor treatment technology from a research concept to human clinical trials, earning FDA Breakthrough Device designation. As the founding Executive Director of the Emory BioFoundry Institute, he has led commercialization initiatives to accelerate the translation of academic discoveries into venture-backed companies. Dr. Mokarram also holds an appointment as Associate Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at Emory University.
Dr. Mokarram completed his graduate training in Materials Science and Engineering at Georgia Tech, followed by a fellowship in Biodesign Innovation at Stanford University. He has authored more than 30 peer-reviewed publications and holds multiple patents.
