Nassir Mokarram joined Emory Investment Management in 2025. A Kauffman Fellow, scientist, entrepreneur, and investor, Dr. Mokarram brings a multidisciplinary perspective shaped by experience across academia, company building, and venture investing.

As a founder, he advanced innovative brain tumor treatment technology from early-stage research through human clinical trials, earning FDA Breakthrough Device designation. He also serves as the founding Executive Director of the Emory BioFoundry Institute, where he leads commercialization initiatives designed to accelerate the translation of academic discoveries into venture-backed companies. In addition, Dr. Mokarram holds an appointment as Associate Professor in Emory University’s Department of Neurosurgery.

He completed graduate studies in Materials Science and Engineering at Georgia Tech and subsequently completed a fellowship in Biodesign Innovation at Stanford University. Dr. Mokarram has authored more than 30 peer-reviewed publications and holds multiple patents.
