Andrew W. Evans is the Retired Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Southern Company, where he was responsible for the company’s accounting, finance, business development, investor relations, information technology and treasury. Prior to joining Southern Company Services, Evans served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Southern Company Gas (formerly AGL Resources), the largest distributor of natural gas in America. He also served as Chairman of the Southern Company Gas Board of Directors.

Evans joined AGL Resources, in May 2002, and held several positions of leadership, including Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer. Evans came to AGL Resources from Mirant Corporation where he served in various finance and business development roles over a nine-year period. Prior to Mirant, Evans was employed by National Economic Research Associates and the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston.

Evans is currently on the board of Southwest Gas Holdings, a natural gas distribution and construction company, serving Nevada, Arizona, and California. He also uses his time in service to the community. Evans serves on the Grady Health Foundation, and previously served as the Audit Chair of the Grady Memorial Hospital Corporation. Additionally, he is a member of the Emory Board of Trustees and the executive committee of Zoo Atlanta. Evans also served on the energy advisory council of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, the Georgia Council on Economic Education, New American Pathways,
and the United Way of Greater Atlanta – HomeFirst Atlanta Community Oversight Board.

Evans is a graduate of Emory University and the Booth/Kellogg program, CEO Perspectives.
